1. Purpose of This Document
This document sets out the responsible gaming framework that applies to all accounts registered with Lloydminster. It describes the tools available to players, the procedures for setting limits or requesting exclusion, the respective obligations of the player and the platform, and the external support resources recognized in Canada. Reading this document does not replace professional assistance where gambling is causing or may cause harm.
Gambling carries financial and health risks for some individuals. No tool, limit, or program described in this policy removes the possibility of loss or gambling-related harm. This policy is a risk-reduction framework and does not guarantee safe or harm-free outcomes.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals who hold or apply for an account with Lloydminster and access gambling services from Canada. Where provincial or territorial rules impose stricter requirements than those described in this document, the applicable provincial or territorial standard takes precedence.
3. Eligibility and Age Verification
Access to gambling services on the platform is restricted to adults. The minimum age requirement is determined by the applicable provincial or territorial law in the user’s place of residence. Age is verified during account registration and may be reverified at any stage. Accounts determined to belong to underage individuals are closed, and any funds are handled in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
4. Player Responsibilities
Users are expected to:
- Gamble only with money they can afford to lose.
- Set a personal budget before each gambling session and stop when that budget is reached.
- Treat gambling as a recreational activity, not as a source of income or a method of recovering previous losses.
- Avoid gambling while under the influence of alcohol, medication, or emotional distress.
- Monitor the time spent gambling and take regular breaks.
- Not borrow money for the purpose of gambling.
- Keep account credentials confidential and not allow third parties to use their account.
5. Responsible Gaming Tools
The platform provides the following account-level tools. Users may access these through account settings or by contacting support.
5.1 Deposit Limits
Users may set daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limits. A reduction of an existing limit takes effect immediately. An increase to an existing limit is subject to a mandatory cooling-off period before it becomes active.
5.2 Session and Time Limits
Users may set a maximum session duration. When the limit is reached, the session ends and the user is logged out. Time limits may be adjusted through account settings, subject to any applicable cooling-off periods or regulatory requirements.
5.3 Reality Checks
Users may activate periodic on-screen notifications that display the time elapsed during a session. These notifications appear at intervals selected by the user where such settings are available.
5.4 Cooling-Off Period
A user who wishes to take a temporary break without closing their account may request a cooling-off period. During this period, access to gambling services is suspended. The applicable minimum and maximum durations are disclosed in account settings or through support.
5.5 Self-Exclusion
A user who believes that their gambling is no longer recreational may request self-exclusion. Self-exclusion suspends access to the account for a defined period. The platform takes reasonable steps to prevent marketing communications from being sent to a self-excluded user during the exclusion period. Self-exclusion requests are processed through the support channel and take effect within the timeframe stated in the confirmation notice.
Users in Ontario may also enroll in BetGuard, the province-wide digital self-exclusion program administered by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. BetGuard enrollment covers all regulated digital gambling sites in Ontario and is available for periods ranging from six months to five years. Lloydminster does not administer BetGuard directly; enrollment is managed through official Ontario regulatory channels.
6. Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines
The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction has published Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines. These are evidence-based recommendations intended to help individuals reduce the risk of gambling-related harm. The three core recommendations are:
Guideline - Recommendation
Spending - Gamble no more than 1% of monthly household income before tax
Frequency - Gamble no more than four days per month
Game variety - Avoid regularly gambling on more than two types of games
These guidelines are risk-reduction measures. Following them does not guarantee that gambling will be free of harm. Further information is available at gamblingguidelines.ca.
7. Identifying Signs of Problematic Gambling
The following patterns may indicate that gambling is becoming harmful:
- Spending more money or time gambling than intended.
- Gambling to recover previous losses.
- Neglecting work, family, or other responsibilities because of gambling.
- Borrowing money or selling assets to fund gambling.
- Feeling anxious, irritable, or preoccupied when not gambling.
- Concealing gambling activity from others.
Users who recognize these patterns in themselves or in someone they know are encouraged to use the self-exclusion tools described in Section 5.5 and to contact a recognized support service.
8. External Support Resources in Canada
Support services for gambling-related harm are organized at the provincial and territorial level. Users should contact the service that corresponds to their province or territory of residence. The following organizations provide publicly available information and referral services:
- Responsible Gambling Council (RGC): responsiblegambling.org
- Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA): ccsa.ca
- Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH): camh.ca
- OLG PlaySmart (Ontario): playsmart.ca
- Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO): agco.ca
Provincial helplines and treatment programs are listed on official provincial health authority and regulator websites. Lloydminster does not operate or fund these services.
9. Employee and Operator Obligations
Lloydminster staff who interact with users receive training to recognize indicators of gambling-related harm and to direct users to available tools and external resources. The platform does not send promotional material to self-excluded users during the exclusion period. Account data related to responsible gaming settings is retained in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy and data-protection requirements.
10. Complaints and Escalation
A user who believes that this policy has not been applied correctly to their account may submit a complaint through the official support channel. Complaints are acknowledged within the timeframe stated in the general Terms and Conditions. If a complaint is not resolved to the user’s satisfaction, the user may escalate the matter to the relevant provincial or territorial regulator, where such escalation is available.
11. Policy Updates
This policy is reviewed periodically. Material changes are communicated to registered users before they take effect. Continued use of the account after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Users who do not accept a change may close their account, subject to applicable terms and any regulatory requirements.
